Mötesplatsen.se used Freespee to offer its members a free anonymous phone number for dating.In a joint project with Freespee, Mötesplatsen.se offered all its female VIP-members an anonymous phone number for online dating, which the women could use as much as they wanted when they connected with others through Mötesplatsen.
Background
The online dating industry has always felt the need to protect its users’ integrity. Mötesplatsen realized early on that it could offer its members a completely new and riskless way of making contact with new people. For Mötesplatsen, being able to offer such a number together with Freespee was a natural step in developing its services.
Implementation
Mötesplatsen used Freespee’s technology in order to implement a service offering anonymous phone numbers for dating on its website with the help of an iframe. All female VIP members were offered the possibility to activate a unique and individual anonymous phone number.
Mötesplatsen’s members could then see all ingoing and outgoing calls in a call view that included the numbers, time and event.
The members were able to return a call by clicking the "call" button. With the help of a function menu (presented to the right) the member could even look the number up in an online phone directory, or block a telephone number that made undesired calls.
The service also included voicemail that the member could listen to via the call view. This meant that a member could allow the call to go directly to voice mail if they were uncertain about who was calling.
Conclusion
Mötesplatsen and Freespee’s collaboration in offering phone numbers for online dating was very successful and received much positive feedback from Mötesplatsen’s female VIP members.
The outcome was a definite success - over half of the members who were made aware of the anonymous dating number actively chose to learn more about it. This proves without doubt that even in the online dating world, there is a market for communicating by phone.
